Delhi Education Board Set-up, DoE Calls it 'Most-Awaited Reform in Assessment System'
The Board will be chaired by Delhi deputy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia. He will be supported by an executive body of experts.

Delhi now has its own education board. The new board is registered by the name, Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE). The Directorate of Education took to Twitter to inform about the registration of DBSE. “This will bring the most awaited reform in our assessment system,” it wrote.

“Now Delhi has its own education board Delhi Education Board got registered today. Congratulations to our students, teachers, and all the stakeholders! This will bring the most awaited reform in our assessment system,” DoE wrote on Twitter.

Currently, schools in Delhi has 1000 government and 1,700 private schools all affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Currently, only some selected schools will be enrolled in DBSE. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had in an earlier statement said that the board will start functioning from the upcoming academic year with 20-25 schools.

The Board will be chaired by Delhi deputy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia. He will be supported by an executive body of experts. While the details about the executive body are not known yet, however, it is expected to have representation from the industry as well.

Delhi government has announced several other initiatives including  “Deshbhakti” (patriotism) curricullum under which students will be taught about India in one lecture daily. The AAP-government had earlier launched Happiness Curriculum which was a success. Delhi govt also announced in its Budget that it will start a virtual model school and plans to open 100 schools of excellence.
