Ambassadors and diplomats of over 70 countries are visiting Varanasi on the occasion of Gurparab. The visit is being organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The diplomats at Namo Ghat in Varanasi witnessed a cultural show on the banks of the Ganga which included a Bharatnatyam rendition of Ramayan as well as performances of Kathak and folk dances from Uttar Pradesh.
They will witness lighting of earthen lamps on the occasion of Kartik Purnima and also witness the Ganga Arti and Dev Deepavali at Kashi in the historic city of Varanasi.
Varanasi has previously hosted several G20 meetings during India’s presidency including the G20 Development Ministers Meeting and G20 Culture Ministers Meeting.
Varanasi has also hosted several meetings of the SCO. Varanasi was designated as the first SCO cultural city during the Indian Presidency this year.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had organised the visit of Ambassadors and Diplomats from 50 countries to Ayodhya on the occasion of Deepotsav held on the eve of Diwali.
