Team India paceman Prasidh Krishna sustained an injury during the Ranji Trophy match on Friday. Krishna, who recently was part of India’s Test series against South Africa, injured his left quadriceps while bowling during the clash between Karnataka and Gujarat.
The pacer also missed out on India’s squad for the first two Tests against England. The BCCI didn’t mention whether Krishna was dropped or ruled out due to his left quadriceps injury.

Prasidh left the field after bowling 14.5 overs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He was seen limping after sustaining the injury. The quadriceps injury takes at least four to six weeks to heal as per its intensity.
The 27-year-old is currently under the care of Karnataka team physio, but as a BCCI contracted player, he can also link up with India ‘A’ support staff, who are also in Ahmedabad as part of the two-day match against the touring England Lions.
Prasidh had made his Test debut during India’s recent tour to South Africa after missing out on the action for nearly a year owing to a lumbar stress fracture. He returned in action with Ireland tour last year and was later picked in ODI World Cup squad too after Hardik Pandya was ruled, but he didn’t get a chance to play in the showpiece event.
However, his effort in the Test series against the Proteas was less than satisfactory after plucking just two wickets from as many matches, averaging 65. His economy too stood at 4.64.
Meanwhile, he was backed by skipper Rohit Sharma after his lacklustre debut.
Rohit said that the pacer has what it takes to play the longest format in the sport.
“Look, a little bit inexperienced, of course, but he has got the tools to come out here and play the game. The bowlers that we have back in India, some of them are injured, some of them are not available. So we try to pick the guys who are available and we see the conditions that we are coming up against and try to pick the bowlers based on that,” Rohit said in the press conference after the first Test against South Africa.
“I completely agree that he has not played a lot of cricket, but there are three guys in their team as well who have not played a lot of cricket; they came here and showed what it takes,” the skipper added.
