Open AI has been tempting the best of employees from rival tech giants such as Meta and Google. Now, the company is offering salaries as high as Rs 83 crore per annum in order to lure more and more people. With this, Open AI is hoping to poach Google’s best researchers and top tech resources for their artificial intelligence chatbot. According to reports, the company has already hired at least 93 people who have formerly worked at Google and Meta.
As of February, it had an extra 59 former Google employees and about 34 ex-Meta staff working.
The job listings for research engineers with OpenAI showed an annual salary range of between Rs 2 crore and Rs 3.8 crore.
With this, they had a “generous equity” and other benefits which add up to Rs 83 crore a year.
Jan Leike, OpenAI’s head of super alignment, during a podcast said that the team is hiring research engineers, scientists, and managers. He further added that the company is looking for strong candidates who are passionate about making AI safer.
During his visit to India earlier this year, Sam Altman seemed eager to welcome bright young IT practitioners from the country into the OpenAI workspace. “Many of our best researchers are undergraduates or are college dropouts. You certainly do not need a PhD to do great work. OpenAI will welcome you on the basis of talent, and we are certainly a good fit for undergrads,” he said.
Atty Eleti, a software engineer at OpenAI, said that those interested in working with the company simply need to send an email to the CEO. “If you guys amaze us using the Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), building some amazing products, contribute to open-source resources, and then just email [email protected], you will get a job,” Eleti said.
