Trouble in Pakistan Cricket: Mohammad Hafeez Resigns, Inzamam-ul-Haq Unhappy Over Review Meeting
Mohammad Hafeez has resigned from the PCB Technical Committee right before the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

Pakistan cricket team has been hit by another controversy after an Asia Cup review meet being held quite close to the ODI World Cup. Reportedly, chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq wasn’t happy with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) with the process being held right before a big tournament that would involve captain Babar Azam being asked uncomfortable questions.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has stepped down from the PCB technical committee after the meeting that was called to review the team’s poor show in Asia Cup 2023.

PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf held the meeting which was attended by Babar, head coach Grant Bradburn, Chief Operating Officer Salman Nasser, Head of International Cricket Usman Wahla and former skipper Misbah ul Haq.

“I decided to leave Pakistan cricket technical committee. I served as honorary member. I would like to thank Zaka Ashraf sb for giving me this opportunity. I m always available whenever Zaka Ashraf sb need my honest suggestions for Pakistan cricket. My best wishes for Pakistan cricket as always,” Hafeez posted on X (formerly Twitter).

News agency PTI quoted a source as claiming that Inzamam didn’t agree with the timing of the exercise.

“Inzamam is a very strong headed person and he didn’t agree with the move by Chairman Zaka Ashraf to call such a review meeting and make Babar and Bradburn face uncomfortable questions by Misbah, Hafeez and other board officials,” the source was quoted as saying.

“Inzamam having been a former captain and top cricketer himself, made it clear he was not happy with the review process as this was the time to encourage and boost the team instead of putting them through an inquisition and showing distrust in their abilities,” the source added.

While Inzamam didn’t participate in the meeting, he did meet Ashraf for a one-on-one meeting at the Gaddafi stadium on Thursday for a final approval on the world cup squad.
