Watch: Babar Azam Charges at Mohammad Rizwan After Hilarious Run Out Attempt
Babar Azam playfully charged at Mohammad Rizwan after the latter made an appeal for a run out.

Following Pakistan’s early World Cup exit, Babar Azam stepped down from his leadership roles across formats and he’s now currently gearing up for the tour of Australia.

With two weeks to go for the bilateral assignment, the Pakistan cricket team recently featured in a practice match.

At one point in the game, Babar was spotted engaging in a hilarious banter with teammate Mohammad Rizwan.

Babar was casually walking off the crease to speak with the bowler. and that’s when Rizwan made an attempt at a direct hit at the stumps.

As soon as the ball dislodged the bails, Rizwan smilingly made a loud appeal for a run out.

It took a few moments for Babar to realise what actually happened.

After Rizwan continued with his appeal, the former Pakistan captain began to charge after him with the bat which resulted in a hilarious chasing sequence. A video of their playful exchange has gone viral on social media.

The incident might remind fans of a controversial incident that took place during the Ashes series earlier this year.

On Day 5 of the second Test, Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey ran out England’s Jonny Bairstow.

Having assumed the ball was dead, Bairstow casually ventured out of his crease.

Carey showed game awareness and made a direct throw aiming at the stumps and later appealed for a run out. The on-field umpires gave their decision in Australia’s favour polarising opinions.

As far as Babar’s career is concerned, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly urged the star batter to retain his red-ball captaincy but Babar was not ready to reverse his decision.

Replacing him, Shan Masood has been named Pakistan’s new Test captain, while Shaheen Shah Afridi has been appointed as the skipper for the shortest format.

The opening Test between Pakistan and Australia is slated to begin on December 14 in Perth.
