Watch: Is This The Best Weirdest Catch in Cricket History?
In a T20 match in Kerala, the wicketkeeper and a fielder combined to take a strange catch.

There have been several stunning catches in the history of cricket and then there are weirdest catches too. One of such was taken in a KPA 123 and KCSA Calicut contest in the Kerala Premier League.

On a delivery from KPA’s Firas Mohammed, the ball took the edge of the batter and moved towards the right of the keeper. The wicketkeeper then made a solid dive but the ball bounced off his glove. It then landed on his back as a fielder approached to take the ball to complete the catch.

And the clip of that moment is now being widely shared on social media.

Several fans have reacted to the now-viral clip with most of them suggesting that it just might be the greatest catch of all time.

Others argued that the catch was controversial and shouldn’t have been awarded to the keeper but to the fielder instead.

One of them wrote, “The catch should not be awarded to the keeper as he is not in control of the ball. Instead, it should be awarded to the fielder who picked it up from the keeper’s back.”

While another fan seemed to be confused about what the rules said. He enquired about the wicket in the replies section asking, “But is that HIS catch though? Or is it the guy who picks it off his back? Any umpires about? I need to know!”

“He did not have the ball under control. It was rolling around on his back. Technically the fielder that picked up the ball from his back took the catch,” wrote one more.

One of the fans hilariously suggested that the catch needed a DRS review. He wrote, “DRS would need a look at it! The book would say the fieldsman ultimately caught it but WK greatest assist of all time.”

KPA 123 and KSCA took on each other in the 11th match of the Kerala Premier League on November 9. Calicut’s innings eventually came to an end after seven overs which put up a total of 32 runs on the board.

The tally was easy to work with for KPA 123. They chased the total down in 4.4 overs to record a six-wicket victory.
