51 centres gear up for counting across Madhya Pradesh
State Election Commission has deployed over 15,000 employees for the counting process while the Election Commission has deputed 62 central observers.

Bhopal: Elaborate arrangements have been made for counting of votes for the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh at 51 district headquarters on Friday.

Before counting of votes cast through EVMs, postal ballots will be counted. The total number of postal ballots received in the state is 54,823.

A total of 2.96 crore votes will be counted through 16,152 EVMs. The total number of voters in the state is 4,80,91,624.

State Election Commission has deployed over 15,000 employees for the counting process while the Election Commission has deputed 62 central observers.

A total of 378 candidates including 37 women are in the fray in the state. Prominent among them include Union ministers Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia, who contested from Chhindwara and Guna respectively.

Former Union ministers Kantilal Bhuria (Ratlam), Sumitra Mahajan (Indore) and Madhya Pradesh Congress president Arun Yadav (Khandwa) and former Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh (Satna) are also in the fray.
