33. Akaltara is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh and is part of Jangir-Champa (SC) Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Akaltara falls in Janjgir-Champa district and North region of Chhattisgarh. It is categorised as a semi-urban seat.
There are a total of 2,02,784 voters in the seat, which includes 1,04,280 male voters, and 98,503 female voters. In the 2018 Chhattisgarh elections, Akaltara recorded a voter turnout of 76.39%. In 2013 the turnout was 76.6%, and in 2008 it was 68.44%.
In 2013, Chunnilal Sahu of INC won the seat by a margin of 21,693 votes (15.45%). Chunnilal Sahu secured 49.4% of the total votes polled.
BSP won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 2,888 votes (2.56%), registering 33.11% of the total votes polled.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP led in the Akaltara Assembly segment of the Jangir-Champa (SC) Parliamentary/Lok Sabha constituency.
