Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday condemned the serial bomb blasts, which killed over 50 people and injured 200 in the state.
Terming the incidents as ''acts of cowardice'' by anti-national elements, the Chief Minister directed the law-enforcing agencies of the state to take immediate action to nab the culprits behind the blasts and to deal with the situation firmly.
He had also directed them to take immediate precautionary security measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
Gogoi had appealed to the people of the state to remain on high alert and maintain calm. He also appealed to all political parties to extend their co-operation to the government in this hour of crisis.
Meanwhile, the state government had also sounded red alert and the Army had been asked to be on stand-by.
