New Delhi: Delhi BJP has said it will approach the State Election Commission over the Lieutenant Governor's address at the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday claiming it a violation of the code of conduct in force for the MCD polls.
"When the announcement for the Lt Governor's address was made, we had submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission demanding that the address should not list the achievements of the Government or any future schemes," Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi told PTI.
The address highlighted the achievements of the state government but no future schemes were announced. The party would approach the Election Commission in this regard, he added.
"This is a pure violation of the code of conduct in force for the coming municipal polls," he said.
Terming the LG's address as "a bundle of white lies", the party's Delhi unit President Harshvardhan said, "efforts have been made to mislead the people through the address of the LG".
"It is a lie that during the year 2007-08, the plan outlay has been increased from 5,200 crore to 9,000 crore. In reality the Delhi Government has demanded only 7,200 crore from the Planning Commission and the rest Rs 1,800 crore had been given to them the commission itself in view of the needs of the city," he claimed.
Blaming the Congress government in Delhi for the poor power, water and civic infrastructure in Delhi, he said, "the city is craving for basic amenities".
