BJP, RSS and PM Have Hatred for My Family, But I'll Continue to Hug Modi, Says Rahul Gandhi
Referring to Congress' poll promise 'NYAY' scheme, Rahul Gandhi said it would revive the country's economy as it will increase people's purchasing power.

Shujalpur: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged the BJP, RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hatred in their hearts for his family, but he would continue to hug the PM as hate could only be defeated by love.

He also said the ongoing election was a fight between two ideologies — that of the Congress and of the BJP and RSS.

Gandhi was addressing an election rally here for Congress candidate and folk singer, Prahlad Tipaniya, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Dewas seat.

Referring to PM Modi’s repeated assaults on Gandhi family, Gandhi said, “The BJP, RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have hatred for my family and our job is to remove it. He (Modi) speaks with hatred and anger about my father, my grandmother and my great grandfather, but I go and give them a ‘jhappi’ (hug). You are a prime minister and you must remove hatred and work with love,” Gandhi said. “They should know that hatred can only be conquered by love,” he added.

Regarding the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), he said, “We had sent our leader P Chidambaram to convey a message that he (Modi) was making a mistake as India was a vast country and an ill-planned policy would land you in trouble. But our leader was sternly told that a decision had been made and would be implemented by midnight.”

Stating that the PM did not consult anyone about demonetization, either Gandhi said, “You (Modi) could have talked to any small shopkeeper.”

“You did not listen to opposition leaders, farmers or common people, but heard what Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and others had to say,” the Congress leader said and added that unlike Modi, he believed in listening to others, including the opposition.

“When Modiji had talked about the Rs 15 lakh scheme, I had liked the idea thinking that the money would be given to the poor. It may have turned out to be a fake promise, but I liked the intent. However, the PM did not fulfil his promise and five months ago, I had summoned the Congress thinktank and had devised the Rs 72,000 per annum ‘NYAY’ scheme on similar lines."

He said the scheme would help revive the country’s economy as it would increase people's purchasing power. He added the Congress would provide 22 lakh government jobs after coming to power at the Centre.

Gandhi said agriculture loans of farmers in Madhya Pradesh, including the kin of former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, had been waived by the Congress government in the state.

The loan waiver was promised by Gandhi before the MP Assembly election last year and it is widely believed to have played a key role in the party's victory in the state after a gap of 15 years.

Talking about the agriculture sector, Gandhi said as the region grew garlic and onion, food processing units would be installed to offer better returns to farmers. He also said that once the Congress was in power, no farmer would be sent to jail.
