BJP wants clean, clear govt in UP: Gadkari
The polling in the 1st phase of UP Assembly elections began at 8 am on Wednesday morning for 55 of the 403 constituencies.

New Delhi: BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday that the BJP wanted a clean and clear government in Uttar Pradesh. "Mayawati's corruption and Mulayam Singh's gundaraj have harmed UP in the past," he said.

He added that there was no way the BJP would build an alliance with the Samajwadi Party or the Bahujan Samaj Party.

"We would prefer to sit in opposition if we do not get sufficient seats," he said.

The polling in the first phase of Assembly elections in the key state began at 8 am on Wednesday morning for 55 of the 403 constituencies.

Despite it being a public holiday, the turnout in the morning was visibly poor, especially in Ayodhya and Bahraich, due to rains.
