A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Pradeep Bora has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a horse of Uttarakhand Police which resulted in the animal's left hind leg breaking. Bora was a part of the protest march led by BJP Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi, which was agitating against alleged cases of corruption, when the horse was injured.
Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Date said the case is still under investigation. Bora was arrested from Haldwani while Joshi has also been booked for attacking the horse.
The incident took place on March 14 during a protest against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat near the state Assembly in Dehradun. The horse Shaktiman, part of the Uttarakhand Mounted Police, fell down during the protest after Bora allegedly tried to pull it down.
Joshi was seen trying to hit the horse with a stick and was also accused of breaking the its leg.
