Balsamand: On the last leg of extensive campaigning in the Adampur constituency of Haryana, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Karan Singh Ranauliya tried to downplay the 'outsider' tag and said, "'Main bahari nai, bhaari hun' (I am not an outsider, but a heavyweight candidate)."
Just hours before the announcement of candidates for the Hayana Assembly elections, the BJP denied ticket to local leader Pawan Khariya and played the caste card by giving the same to a leader belonging to the backward caste.
Even though Adampur is Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Singh Bishnoi's bastion, Ranauliya is confident of BJP's victory in the constituency as well as the state. "The Narendra Modi magic will work and the BJP will get two-thirds of the seats. The HJC won't be able to open its account and the INLD will get only 4-5 seats."
He said that people will not vote on the basis of caste but for development. "I will provide drinking water, build girls' college, hospital," he said.
When asked why BJP's big leaders were not campaigning except party MP Hema Malini for him, Ranauliya said, "Even I am not less than anyone (Hum bhi kam nai hai)."
Ranauliya also did not agree with khap panchayats but stressed that girls should dress decently according to the Indian culture and tradition.
