New Delhi: A meeting between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi’s seven BJP MPs, led by Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, ended in a fiasco on Tuesday morning.
The meeting was called to discuss the sealing drive in the national capital but BJP leaders walked out of the meeting, claiming that the CM was not interested in finding a solution.
A video of the meeting has emerged on social media showing the exact moment the MPs chose to walk out. Kejriwal, who is seated at the head of a roundtable, can be seen pleading with the MPs to sit and discuss the problem.
When they refused to listen to the CM, he emphatically pleaded with them, saying, “Jaise kahoge waise kar lenge, baitho toh sahi! Arrey, chai toh peelo baith ke, yaar! (We will do as you say, have a seat! At least have some tea, my friends!)"
The BJP MPs, though, did not pay any heed to Kejriwal, who, with folded palms, continued to request them to have a seat. “Aap Dilli ke 2 crore logon ke saath dhoka kar rahein hain! (You are cheating the 2 crore people of Delhi!)," says one MP as the group begins to walk out.
After the meeting, Kejriwal called an urgent press conference, attacking the BJP and vowing to move the Supreme Court against the sealing drive. “BJP has refused to even talk to me, so I have no choice but to knock on the doors of the highest court. Delhi Government will move the Supreme Court against the sealing drive," Kejriwal said on Tuesday.
Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari, explaining why they walked out, told the press, “We sensed their dangerous mood and felt that he was not interested in finding a solution to the problem."
Aam Aadmi Partry spokesperson and Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “For last two months, sealing has been taking place. AAP has been raising it but BJP was quite happy because they did not see any elections. Now, when there is an indication of 20 seats going for elections, BJP has grown nervous. That’s why you can see so much of commotion within the BJP."
Bhardwaj further added, “You ask any trader, you do a survey and everybody understands that this is purely a BJP-related issue and only they can do it (stop sealing)."
Meanwhile, BJP leader Vijender Gupta tweeted saying they were manhandled by supporters of the CM. “A BJP delegation went to meet the Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal on the issue of notifying 351 roads to save traders from sealing action. He not only refused to meet, he had people outside his home who assaulted me causing injuries. Utterly disgraceful & criminal act by the CM."

Bhardwaj, when asked about Gupta’s allegations, said, “We anticipated that there could be some allegations. That is why we called the meeting in front of almost two dozen TV cameras and journalists. If any such thing has happened, there were at least one dozen recording devices around. However, I believe that the chief minister welcomed the delegation very warmly. He offered flowers to Manoj Tiwari. The Delhi BJP president was seemingly happy with the reception. We offered them seats. However, under pressure from Ramesh Bidhuri and Vijender Gupta, Manoj Tiwari was not comfortable."
