Bijnaur: With the Congress-TMC alliance already on the verge of breaking down in West Bengal, reports are emerging of another big alliance in the making - a Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance in Uttar Pradesh.
SP's state president Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday an alliance with the Congress was quite possible.
He said that if the Congress flopped in elections, the SP won't run to its rescue. However, he added that the SP would support the Congress to keep the communal forces at bay.
In no mood to let up on the BJP’s Kushwaha debacle, Yadav said that there was no room for corrupt leaders in his party.
Party leaders Shivpal Yadav and Azam Khan wanted tainted politician DP Yadav on board. However, Akhilesh took a strong stand and said there was no room for tainted people in his party.
DP Yadav even went to the extent of saying that Akhilesh was a kid and he didn’t know the rules of the political game.
When asked about the incident, the young leader said, "I said tainted ministers should not be inducted in the party. It will only help save the image of the party as SP is all targeted on these grounds."
The young leader even targeted Mayawati recently saying that under her rule, 'shaam ki dawai' had become more expensive.
Explaining, Akhilesh said, "Nowhere in the country have people paid more than the MRP for alcohol which is made from the sugarcane."
Recently, a car full of cash was recovered in UP. When asked about it, Akhilesh said the "party in power" had made a lot of money during its rule. "They will pay exorbitant amount of money to come back to power," he said.
He also held Mayawati responsible for the NRHM scam. He said, "The CM is directly responsible for the NRHM scam. She split the Health and Family Welfare Department into two to make make money."
