New Delhi: Finding clinching evidence against DMK leader Dayanishi Maran in the Aircel-Maxis deal, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is all set to file an FIR against him and his brother Kalanithi Maran.
It will be the first regular case to be lodged by the CBI as an outcome of its investigations into the alleged irregularities in the spectrum allocation in the pre-A Raja period. At that time the telecom ministry was headed by Maran, Arun Shourie and the late Pramod Mahajan.
Meanwhile, shares of Sun TV, promoted by Maran family, on Thursday fell sharply by over 7 per cent amid concerns emanating from the CBI's submission in the Supreme Court that it has got evidence against Dayanidhi Maran in 2G spectrum scam and will file an FIR against him within a couple of days.
The stock, which made a weak opening fell further and settled 7.02 per cent lower at Rs 244.35 on the BSE.
During the day, the stock tumbled to its 52-week low of Rs 237.75.
Similar was the trend at the National Stock Exchange, where the stock lost 6.25 per cent to close at Rs 246.15.
CBI on Wednesday told the apex court that it has got evidence against Dayanidhi Maran in 2G spectrum scam and will file an FIR against him within a couple of days for various offences including showing "undue favour" to Aircel.
Shares of low cost air carrier Spicejet, promoted by Maran family, also fell by 6.19 per cent to close at Rs 21.20 on the BSE.
