Lucknow: After the resignations of three Samajwadi Party (SP) MLCs from the Legislative Council and the party, sources in the BJP have indicated that the trend is set to continue.
Last week Bukkal Nawab, Yashwant Singh and Dr Sarojni Agarwal gave their resignations, and joined the BJP, in order to allegedly pave the way UP CM Yogi Adityanath and his deputies Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dinesh Sharma to the Legislative Council.
If sources in the BJP are to be believed, then the resignations from Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress will keep coming at regular intervals, in order to send a message to the opposition.
According to reports, there are five more SP MLCs in line to give their resignation and join the BJP. As per the saffron party’s strategy the possible defectors could be resigning at regular intervals to maintain BJPs strength and play out a psychological message to other party MLCs and members.
Sources have indicated that the BJP is working on a strategy to not just induct MLC’s but also MLAs from other parties. The main focus of the BJP is in getting the right number of rebel MLAs from other parties without losing their membership, which could be in danger under the anti-defection law.
The ongoing family feud inside the SP is being said to be the main reason behind these resignations. The three MLCs who have resigned from SP were considered close to Mulayam Singh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav.
