Never called Aamir Khan a traitor, claims Manoj Tiwari; Congress targets Centre

The removal of actor Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador of Incredible India has sparked a political war between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Opposition MPs.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has denied calling the actor a traitor during Parliament panel meeting on tourism. Tiwari, however, maintained that Aamir Khan should no longer be the face of incredible India.

This comes in the wake of Aamir Khan's statement on the intolerance issue. He had said that his wife Kiran Rao had suggested leaving the country over rising intolerance.

Meanwhile, the Opposition has started a political war with the Centre over Aamir Khan's ouster as Incredible India ambassador.

CNN-IBN was the first to report the issue raised by CPM MP Ritubrata Banerjee during the meeting of Parliament standing committee on tourism. The Congress has also sought a clarification from the Centre, seeking details if a new agency will be given the contract and if the new ambassador would promote the campaign for free as Aamir Khan did.

The Centre has, meanwhile, assured MPs that they will write to them in 10 working days on the government's position.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan is set to be the new face of Incredible India.
