New Delhi: A PIL was moved in Allahabad High Court on Monday challenging Election Commission decision to cover all the elephant statues in Uttar Pradesh.
The petitioner said that elephant is a symbol of Hinduism.
The Election Commission recently ordered that all statues of Chief Minister Mayawati and her party symbol, the elephant, installed at several places in Uttar Pradesh be covered until the completion of Assembly poll process. Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi said the directive would be implemented at the earliest as the matter was related to the model code of conduct.
