New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi stormed former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Lok Sabha constituency in Lucknow.
Slamming the Mulayam Singh government for not properly utilising funds provided to it by the Centre, Rahul said UP had seen little or no development in the past 17-years.
The Congress MP, who was accorded a rousing welcome in several localities, told an election rally that only the Congress could take the state on the path to development.
Making a special mention of youths in UP, the young Congress leader said they were migrating to other states in search of jobs as successive state governments had failed to address their problems.
"For me there is no difference between Amethi and Mohanlalganj. Give me MPs and MLAs and we will ensure development," Rahul was quoted by PTI as saying.
Later, Gandhi held a roadshow and was accorded a warm reception. People assembled on roads to have a glimpse of the Congress leader who was showered with rose petals as his cavalcade passed by.
There was, however, some confusion among party workers on the route to be taken by Gandhi. At some places, his visit went virtually unnoticed.
Additional District Magistrate J P Singh told PTI that no change was effected in Gandhi's route.
