Rajasthan CM buying fake 'Likes' for his Facebook page: BJP
The BJP claimed that till June 1 the CM's Facebook page had 1,69,077 likes but by June 30 it shot up to 2,14,639.

Jaipur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has bought fake 'Likes' for his official Facebook page operated by a technical team. A BJP spokesperson claimed that the Chief Minister's official Facebook page 'Apka Mukhyamantri' (Your Chief Minister) had 1,69,077 likes till June 1 and it shot up to to 2,14,639 by June 30.

"This is a 'social media scam' involving Gehlot. Some IT companies sell fake 'Likes' and it is apparent with its sudden rise that unfair practice to gain popularity on Facebook was involved," party spokesperson Jyoti said in a statement. However, the team operating the page have termed the allegations as baseless.

The party also claimed that until June 1, the page's 'most popular city' feature showed that most of the followers were from Jaipur which later in the month changed to Istanbul. The Chief Minister must clarify as to why his recent followers were from Turkey, Jyoti said.

On the other hand, Lokesh Sharma, who handles the page, rejected the allegation and said it was a baseless allegation to tarnish the image of the Chief minister. "BJP is disturbed due to increasing popularity of the chief minister so they are leveling baseless allegations," he said.
