Jaipur: On the last day to file nominations for Rajasthan Assembly polls on Tuesday, the state revenue minister Hemaram Choudhary filed his papers from Gudhamalani in Barmer. Hemaram Choudhary had earlier refused to contest elections and had been incommunicado after the Congress did not accommodate Balaram, an aspirant he supported, as the party candidate from Siwana.
He, however, agreed to contest after the party leaders convinced him to do so.
Upset with the party not accommodating the candidate backed by him for Siwana, Hemaram had last week said he's not interested in contesting elections this time ostensibly because politics is increasingly becoming dirty. Nonetheless Congress high command called him to Delhi and announced his name in its fourth list.
With a string of factors making the poll battle tough for Congress, the party can anything but overlook Choudhary, the seat of Gudhamalani or the Jat factor associated with him.
Rajasthan is going to polls on December 1 and counting will take place on December 8 along with Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
