Lucknow: In the run up to the Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party President Rajnath Singh's constituency has been moved from Ghaziabad to Lucknow. The decision was taken at the party's Central Election Committee (CEC) meet after which the party released its fourth list of Lok Sabha candidates.
Lucknow was represented by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's key associate Lalji Tandon. He had earlier stroked a controversy by refusing to give up his seat for anyone other than party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
A day later, Tandon backtracked and said he will do whatever the party asks him to do.
Many senior leaders from the BJP are contesting from Uttar Pradesh because the state has the highest number of Lok Sabha seats, 80, and the party wanted its presence to be felt in the state.
Tandon's name has so far not figured in any of the BJP's list. It remains to be seen which seat he will get or will he prefer a Rajya Sabha route.
