Neeraj Singh, the son of Defence Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh, who serves as the campaign in-charge for his father’s constituency, said that the slogan for Lucknow this time is “Abki Baar 5 Lakh Paar.”
In an interview with CNN-News18, Neeraj, affectionately called Neeraj Bhaiya and regarded as the go-to person in Lucknow, shared that he is conducting five Nukkad Sabhas every day to increase the margin by 5 lakh votes.
When asked about being considered the go-to person in Lucknow, Neeraj, who receives over 100 calls daily from Lucknow residents, said, “We are born and brought up in Lucknow and this constituency is a big family for us. Last 20 years I have been in politics we serve society with selfless motive. My father is a founder member of this party and we work to serve the society not with an intention of getting votes.
“We have come a long way. In last 10 years the kind of work which has been done is worth 50000 crore. Rajnath ji always wanted Lucknow to develop like any metropolitan city. Investors summit 35000 crore MOUs have been signed. Now we have many railway stations in Lucknow. We have new Airport Terminal at Airport as Air Traffic will go up by 1 crore,” Neeraj remarked on the developmental initiatives undertaken in the past decade.
Neeraj said that Lucknow, known for its culture of Tehzeeb and Chikankari, will now also be recognised for the ‘BrahMos’ missile, with a manufacturing unit established in the city.
During his election rallies, Neeraj humorously remarked that when a BrahMos missile manufactured in Lucknow hits enemies, it will announce to the enemy nation, “Muskuraiye, mein Lucknow se hoon” (Smile, I am from Lucknow).
Speaking about the success of last year’s first-ever Defence Expo in North India, held in Lucknow, Neeraj said, “When all these works will come on ground, the per capita income of Lucknow City will double up.”
When asked about his father’s most admirable trait, Neeraj said, “He has all the traits anyone would like to take from him. I admire Rajnath ji’s patience in last 50 years he has never said anything against anyone to hurt feelings, never landed in controversy.”
Vajpayee’s legacy
Regarding Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s legacy, who had represented Lucknow, Neeraj emphasised that the foundation of Lucknow’s development was laid by the late former prime minister. He further said that his father is carrying forward this legacy by continuing the progress and development initiatives in the city.
Additionally, he also stated that there is a wrong perception being created by the opposition that there is a lack of job opportunities in Lucknow.
“Two months ago, we organised the Lucknow Kaushal Mahotsav in collaboration with the National Skill Mantralay and the Kaushal Ministry of the UP Government. We provided jobs to 5000 people in two days. We keep organising such melas,” he added.
Neeraj has been in politics for the last 20 years. He holds an engineering degree as well as an MBA. He is actively involved in campaigning in the Lucknow and Ghaziabad districts of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, he organises the Atal Swasth Mela (Free Medical Camp) and Kushal Rozgar Mela (Employment Camp) annually. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised his efforts after he successfully enlisted over 50,000 “Viksit Bharat Ambassadors” to the NaMo app.
