Salman Khurshid to get EC notice

New Delhi: The Election Commission is issuing a show-cause notice to Law minister Salman Khurshid over his promise for a nine per cent quota for backward Muslims.

Sources in the Commission here said a notice is being served on Khurshid for his quota remarks which has evoked sharp reactions from BJP which accused him of violating the model code of conduct.

The Uttar Pradesh election authorities have already served a show-cause notice on the Law minister's wife Louise Khurshid, the Congress candidate from Farrukhabad assembly constituency, for his comments made on Sunday in Farrukhabad while campaigning in her favour.
