UP polls: will not to forge alliance, says Gadkari
Gadkari said BJP was the only party where there was no place for nepotism and a common worker could reach the top.

Jaunpur: BJP would prefer sitting in the opposition if it did not get the majority in Uttar Pradesh rather than forging alliance with any political party, its chief Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said.

"BJP will form the government on its own and if it does not happen then it will neither forge an alliance with any party nor extend support to SP or BSP for government formation," he said.

Addressing an election rally in Zafrabad, he said that if BJP fell short of majority, it would prefer to sit in the opposition.

"In Uttar Pradesh, Congress ruled for 40 years and SP and BSP had government for considerable time, but instead of ensuring justice to backward and most backward sections of the society, they only exploited them," he said blaming these parties for the state's backwardness.

Accusing Congress and SP of nepotism, the BJP president said it was the wish of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav that his son Akhilesh became the chief minister.

He said BJP was the only party where there was no place for nepotism and a common worker could reach the top.

Gadkari's remarks came a day after Rahul asserted that Congress will have "no truck" with any party in the post-poll scenario.

"We will not ally with thieves and goondas," Gandhi had said at election meetings on Saturday even as he asserted that the chief minister would be from Congress.
