'Will Never Accept Didigiri': Bengal Governor Says Mamata Banerjee's Politics Is 'Dirty'
"Mamata Banerjee's politics is dirty. Still, I will pray to God to save her, but this is difficult even for God," Governor Bose

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Monday slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for raking up sexual harassment allegations against him, terming it to be her ‘dirty’ politics.

“Mamata Banerjee’s politics is dirty. Still, I will pray to God to save her, but this is difficult even for God. I will never accept this ‘didigiri‘ on the distinguished office of the Governor. That is all I have to say,” Bose told reporters at the Kolkata airport.

The Trinamool Congress chief, who received a lot of heat from the Opposition over the sexual harassment allegations in Sandeskhali against her party leader Shahjahan Sheikh, brought up this incident to hit out at the Governor and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She accused the BJP of scripting the Sandeshkhali incident and asked why PM Modi was silent on the issue of a woman alleging sexual molestation by Governor Bose.

“The entire Sandeshkhali incident was preplanned. The BJP had scripted it well. The truth has been exposed. I have been saying this for a long time,” Banerjee said.

The TMC supremo said, “PM Modi gave sandesh (messages) regarding Sandeshkhali, but remained silent on the representative of the Centre, the Governor’s sexual molestation issue.”

What are the allegations against Governor Bose?

Earlier on Friday, a contractual woman employee of the Raj Bhavan had filed a written complaint with the state police, levelling allegations of molestation against the Governor.

Bose had rubbished the allegations, calling it to be an “absurd drama”. He said that none would be able to deter him from his “determined efforts to expose corruption and curb violence”.

Notably, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said on Monday that the investigation was into the allegations made by the woman and not against anyone in particular. As part of the probe, police officers talked to their colleagues who were on duty at the Raj Bhavan, she said.

The governor on Sunday had directed all the Raj Bhavan employees to ignore any communication from the state Police in connection with molestation complaint against him.

“It is clear that in view of Article 361 (2) and (3) of the Constitution of India, the state police cannot act in any manner whatsoever to inquire/investigate/set in motion any kind of proceedings against the hon’ble governor,” Bose had said.
