Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, chairman of the moderate Hurriyat group, Thursday said demonstrations will be held to protest the sexual assault of a local doctor by by now former minister,Shabir Ahmad Khan.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the procedure adopted by the High Court while dealing with the molestation case against Khan, Mirwaiz said the incident will not be tolerated at any cost and protest demonstrations will be held at all mosques and shrines against the 'heinous crime'.
Granting interim relief to Khan, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Wednesday directed the accused to appear before police and said if police arrest him, he should be bailed out after furnishing a bail bond of Rs.25,000.
The Mirwaiz told media persons here that the protest demonstrations were intended so that the culprits could be unmasked and be brought in the public court.
In addition to the political leadership, Kashmir's religious scholars will be involved in protesting against the incident, he said.
Meanwhile, Khan presented himself at Shaheed Gunj police station here.
"Khan was questioned by the investigating officers after his formal arrest. He was later released after furnishing a bail bond as per the direction of the high court.
"The accused would be again questioned and has been directed not to leave Srinagar without the permission of the investigating officer," a senior police officer said in Srinagar.
