These days, it’s not uncommon to come across numerous instances of men employing cheesy pickup lines to make an impression on women, and these stories often find their way onto the internet. In a recent incident, a woman shared her encounter with a man’s pickup line that was excessively flattering and yet intriguing on the micro-blogging site ‘X.’ Surprisingly, it wasn’t reminiscent of a childhood crush, but the mention of a ‘pencil’ managed to transport the internet back to those school days, leaving everyone in stitches.
In the viral post, the user known as @gunnergworl posted a picture of a note she received from a man who claimed she had dropped it. He wrote, “Tum pensil (pencil) ho kya? Dur se Apsara dikh rahi ho…” with a smiley emoji at the end. After all, who would have anticipated that the beloved Apsara Pencils, cherished by many Indians, would make a cameo in such a scenario? It’s safe to say that the man’s clever move garnered much attention on social media.

While this isn’t the first time a man has tried to impress a woman with a creative pickup line, there have been other instances as well. In a similar vein, a user named Mehak shared a story about a guy who responded to her Instagram story with a witty comment that served as a perfect icebreaker. Her screenshot revealed the young man sliding into her DMs on the photo-sharing platform. Responding to her casual Instagram story, the guy wrote, “Mehak tu tution mai aane wali Mehak hai na? (Mehak, are you the fragrance that fascinates me in the tuition?)” He followed this comment with a laughing emoji to keep things light-hearted and humourous.
