Dhanush, who started this year with the movie Captain Miller, is now ready to grace the silver screens with his upcoming movies like Raayan and Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. Along with resuming his directorial journey with these movies, the actor is also gearing up to try his luck in the Telugu movie industry once again. The makers of the tentatively titled Telugu movie DNS which means Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Sekhar Kammula have now officially received a title.
The movie is named Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula. It stars Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh in the lead roles. The makers have now released the first look video of the movie.
The viral first-look video of Kubera starts with the portraits of Lord Shiva and goddess Lakshmi. The sparks which flow from the burning wood gradually introduce Dhanush who is looking at the portrait. Kubera is the name of the Hindu god of wealth who is also the king of Yakshas. In the video, the actor is looking at the portrait of goddess Lakshmi and lord Shiva who later receives grains in a bowl from the Goddess.
Dhanush is expected to play the titular role in the film. With a long beard and a non-ironed faded shirt, the actor has tried to depict a poor person in Kubera which is quite ironic to the fact that the movie is named after the god of wealth. The makers have not released the release date of the movie and have kept major details like the basic plot, prominent characters and other important information about the movie under wraps. Kubera is bankrolled by Suniel Naran and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banner of Sree Venkateswara Cinemas. The music of the movie is given by Devi Sri Prasad.
Simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu, Kubera will mark the second film of the actor in the Telugu industry after Sir in 2023. Shekar Kammula gained fame with the movie Fidaa and Love Story in 2017 and 2021 respectively.
