‘I’m His Well-wisher, Not Competitor’: Rajinikanth On Rumoured Rivalry With Thalapathy Vijay
Rajinikanth has recently put to rest months old controversy surrounding him and Thalapathy Vijay’s alleged rivalry.

Superstar Rajinikanth is not known for his superstardom, but also his humble persona. One recent incident yet again proved this fact. Rajinikanth has recently put to rest months old controversy surrounding him and Thalapathy Vijay. At the audio launch of his upcoming film Lal Salaam, Rajinikanth put an end to the duo’s fan war. The audio launch of the film was held in Chennai, on January 26, where he clarified that the crow-eagle story he talked about at the Jailer audio launch was not an attack on Thalapathy Vijay. Rajinikanth said that he will only remain a well-wisher of Thalapathy Vijay, and not a competitor.

Rajinikanth addressed the social media war that ensued after his initial words at the Jailer audio launch. He said, “The story of a crow and eagle was interpreted differently. On social media, many spread rumours saying it was against Vijay. It’s so disappointing.” He spoke further saying that Vijay is someone who he saw grow up. When Vijay was 13, he was introduced to him by filmmaker SA Chandrasekar. He stated further saying, “He asked me to tell Vijay to concentrate on his studies first. I advised him to complete his schooling.”

Rajinikanth commended Vijay’s hard work and said that it is only because of his discipline, talent, and efforts that he is at the top today. He stated, “It feels sad to hear that there’s competition between us. Vijay had said that he is his competition and I have also stated the same.” He added that it is disrespectful for everyone to claim that they are competitors, and requested the fans to stop the comparison.

Rajinikanth is set to be seen in an extended cameo role in the upcoming Lal Salaam, which is being directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The film stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the leads. It is expected to hit the theatres on September 9, 2024.
