Malayalam Artists Body Cancels Qatar's Mollywood Magic Event Due To Visa Issues

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has cancelled their upcoming Mollywood Magic event, which was all set to take place on March 7 in Qatar. According to reports, the event was first scheduled to take place at Stadium 974 in Qatar. The multi-starrer programme was cancelled at the last minute.

Many popular actors from the Malayalam film industry had already arrived in Qatar and were quite excited to be a part of their annual event. As per reports, the organisers of the programme have revealed that the cancellation of the event was caused by problems with artists’ visas. They disclosed that the weather and technical difficulties were additional factors in this decision.

To be a part of the programme, several artists had already flown to the country. After finishing the third schedule of his upcoming film L2 Empuraan in the USA, Mohanlal also arrived in the Gulf nation. Apart from that, actors Arjun Ashokan, Dileep and Mammootty had also reached Qatar in the meantime. Around 200 artists from the Malayalam film industry were all set to be a part of the Mollywood Magic event.

This is not the first time that the event has been cancelled at the last minute. Earlier, the show was originally scheduled for November 17 last year at the same venue in Doha. But in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war, the Qatari government issued an order to stop the show, citing security reasons. After a lot of deliberation and discussion, the show was rescheduled for March 7.

The organisers of the event, Nine One Events, confirmed that all those who have purchased the tickets for Mollywood Magic will receive a refund. Although the company has not stated whether or not there has been a rescheduling for the programme. Over the years, the Kerala Film Producers Association has been involved in organising this event, along with Nine One Events.

Talking about Mollywood magic, a group of Malayalam actors and actresses came together to form the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists in 1994. Currently, the association’s president is Mohanlal, and its vice presidents are Maniyanpilla Raju and Shwetha Menon. Jayasurya is the joint secretary in charge.
