Amazon has announced price cuts for its AI-powered smart-speakers Echo Dot and Echo. The Echo Dot will now be available at Rs Rs 4,099 as opposed to its previous price of Rs 4,999. The Echo which was originally priced at Rs 9,999 will now cost Rs 8,999. However, the price of Amazon Echo Plus and Echo Spot will remain unchanged at Rs 14,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.

Both Echo and Echo Dot are powered by Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa and pick up voice commands effectively. However, the Echo comes with a larger and more powerful speaker while the Echo Dot is smaller in size and can be connected to external sources through Bluetooth or headphone jack.

Amazon had been a lone wolf in the smart-speakers market before Google’s range of speakers made an entry. The announcement comes just two months after the launch of Google Home and Home Mini in India. Interestingly, the two Google speakers are priced at are priced at Rs 4,099 and Rs 8,999 respectively.
