New Delhi: Apple is powering its voice-controlled digital assistant Siri to not only answer calls for you, but also transcribe the messages so that you don’t need to listen to them.
The new Siri-powered voicemail service works in sync with Apple’s iCloud service and sends the text of the transcribed voicemail.
Bridging the gap between the older users who like voicemails and the younger generation who do not like it, the Siri-powered iCloud voicemail can relay information about where you are and why you can’t take certain calls along with transcribing any incoming voicemails, Business Insider reports.
Whenever you say something to Siri, it transcribes it to text. Similarly, when someone using iCloud voicemail is unable to take a call, Siri will answer instead of letting the call go to a standard digital audio recorder. iCloud voicemail will send the voice data to company servers and Siri will transcribe them to make it available on your iPhone.
The purported service is expected to be released in 2016, presumably with the iOS 10 version.
