Imagine being able to custom-design your next pair of shoes using a smartphone app. Sound impossible?
ShiftWear is launching a shoe in three styles -- high, medium and low tops -- that allows users to upload images and animations right onto their footwear.
First, users power on their shoe and upload the ShiftWear app to a smartphone or tablet. Next, they can browse through the selection of designs available before downloading their choice. The images are then instantly uploaded onto the shoe.
The HD displays are bendable and waterproof -- they can even be put in the washing machine. The soles are made with a layer of Kevlar fiber -- the same material used to make bullet-proof vests -- and are meant to stand up to the most rugged streets.
After surpassing its goal on kickstarter, ShiftWear shoes are available for pre-order through the company's website: shiftwear.com. Prices start at $150.
