The Best App of the Year award goes to "Level SuperMind," an app dedicated to improve mindfulness.

As 2023 is about to end, Google Play, the Android app store developed by Google, has announced its list of the best Android apps and games in India for the year. The list features top apps and games across various categories, selected by both users and Google Play’s editorial team.

“In 2023, once again, we saw many new and exciting apps helping people through a range of critical needs, with self-care, personal growth, and e-commerce apps dominating app innovations on our list this year,” Google said in a blogpost.

The Best App of the Year award goes to “Level SuperMind,” an app dedicated to improve mindfulness. It achieves this by offering personalised AI-guided paths that include a combination of meditation, exercises, journals, and sleep stories.

For the Users’ Choice App of the Year in India, the Therapy app “THAP: Your Happiness Gym” got the title. This app is designed to support mental well-being by addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress. It offers convenient access to resources and connects users with licensed therapists.

In the Best App with AI category, Stimuler and SwiftChat emerged as winners. Stimuler focuses on enhancing English speaking skills through AI-powered voice technology, while SwiftChat employs conversational AI chatbots to provide personalised learning content in multiple Indian languages, catering to both students and teachers.

Moving on to the gaming category, the prestigious Best Game of the Year award was secured by “Monopoly Go.” Google notes that this game successfully tapped into India’s love for multiplayer board games, introducing new and exciting boards, characters, and events throughout the year.

Subway Surfers Blast received the Users’ Choice Game award, indicating Indian players’ affection for the adventures of the Subway Surfers crew. Mighty Doom, honored in the Best Pick Up & Play category, revitalized the iconic Doom franchise by bringing its demon-slaying action directly to gamers’ hands.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) garnered attention within the gaming community, earning recognition in the Best Ongoing Game category. This was attributed to the game’s continual updates, including the introduction of an all-new NUSA map and integration of Dragon Super Ball characters.
