HMD Global has successfully brought the Nokia smartphone range back from the dead. The smartphones, namely Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 had been launched back in June amidst much hype in India. Yet, only the Nokia 3 amongst the three smartphones is currently available in the market. As per the availability of the other 2 models, HMD India has recently confirmed that the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will be available in India starting mid-August. While the Nokia 5 will make its way to offline retail stores, Nokia 6 will be available exclusively on Amazon India.
In a recent statement, HMD India also claimed that the demand for Nokia 3 in India has exceeded their expectations and they are now planning to ramp up production to better meet the high demand for the smartphone.
“We are humbled by the response to Nokia 3. Currently, we are ramping up our production for Nokia 3 on priority to meet the existing consumer demand. In the coming week, we will start production of Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 to get them ready for sales start by mid-august."
Production for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will also start from the consecutive week and HMD is reportedly going to adopt a “Make in India" approach for the smartphones. Considering the budget-friendly prices of the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, this might be the only way to ensure low manufacturing cost for the smartphones.
