A Chinese employee at the Noida Sector 63 facility of Oppo India reportedly tore the Indian national flag and dumped it in a dustbin which has led to huge protests by other employees, residents of the area along with activists from the Vishva Hindu Parishad.
Even Oppo India employees have joined the protest against the Chinese employee who is a production manager in the facility and three of them have officially complained against him.
Over 200 police personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control. A case has been filed by the police against the Chinese employee.
“A case of disrespecting the national flag has been filed on the basis of a complaint filed by the company employees. We have not arrested anyone in this connection and investigations are in progress. Action has to be taken after a thorough probe and we are in touch with company employees,” said Gautam Budh Nagar Senior police superintendent Dharmendra Singh in a report by Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, Oppo India is yet to share exact details about the incident and is looking into the matter.
“We at OPPO India are paying serious attention to this issue. We deeply regret this unfortunate incident and are extending all our co-operation to the concerned authorities and will take appropriate action. OPPO as a brand has deep respect for India and is strongly rooted as well as localized in the country and 99% of our employees are Indians. We will update if there are any further developments,” said Oppo India.
