Techies Can EARN Rs 2.5 Crore Thanks To This New AI Job: Here Are The Details
AI prompt engineers can make around $1,75,000, which is approximately 1.4 crore in Indian rupees, but this can also exceed $3,00,000 per annum, around Rs 2.5 crore, a new report claims.

The evolution of generative AI is reshaping job trends, introducing previously nonexistent high-paying roles. One such job role that is currently occupying all the limelight on the internet is the position of the “AI prompt engineer.”

According to a report by ZDNet, this role involves “getting the best and most relevant answers from generative AI tools” and is one of the “hottest” jobs around.

The report adds that prompt engineers can make around $1,75,000, which is approximately 1.4 crore in Indian rupees, but this can also exceed $3,00,000 per annum, around Rs 2.5 crore.

That said, at first glance, this role may seem simple, but it notably involves doubling down on multiple skillsets, including programming, problem-solving, AI expertise, and even art. This is precisely why prompt engineers are in high demand.

This has also created a significant challenge for companies in finding such talent. “I think that most people who are recruiting are stealing,” Greg Beltzer, head of technology at RBC Wealth Management, was quoted as saying by ZDNet.

He added, “A good prompt engineer is more expensive than a data scientist today.” Moreover, he also thinks that it is “outrageously difficult trying to find somebody who has experience. You’re not going to find someone who has more than five years of experience. At the most, you might get two or three years, but it’s hard to find.”

This also underscores the fact that people need to upskill themselves to stay relevant in this fast-evolving AI landscape. With more and more involvement of generative AI in apps and inside technology companies, the demand for AI-based roles is only going to increase, which is ironic considering the product they are helping build is allegedly said to take away “normal” jobs.
