To protect the city from potentially dangerous rogue drones, the Metropolitan Police Department of Tokyo has put together a unit specifically for capturing other drones, according to Japan Today.
Japan has upped its anti-drone counter-measures with the introduction of large, net-wielding drones designed to capture smaller, potentially threatening devices.
If a drone is spotted in a no-fly area, the new squad will first search for the operator but, if they refuse to comply or cannot be located, the drone will be brought down in a net.
This development in low-flying air space security comes after an amendment was made to Japan's Civil Aeronautics Law in September, that came into effect on December 10, detailing fines and penalties for improper use of drones.
The dozens of officers recruited for the squad will start training later this month.
