Kelly Clarkson is a celebrated singer and a talk show host who rose to fame with the popular talent hunt show, American Idol. She won the title in 2002, which was the show’s debut season. It was 22 years to her grand win on September 4, but with her busy life lately, Kelly seems to have missed out on the important milestone. However, thanks to her colleague, who reminded her why this day was so significant.
In a video posted to her Instagram, Kelly Clarkson is seen in conversation with her colleague Andy. He was seen stating, “Hey Kel, it’s September 4.” The singer looked at the camera, confused and repeated, “It is September 4.” Andy went on to give a hint, saying, “On this day 22 years ago…” This was enough for Kelly to guess what he was referring to and exclaimed. “Oh my God! It’s September 4! Oh my God, when you said that date I got nervous, like, ‘Did I miss an anniversary?’ I did.”

Reflecting on the win and her life now, the singer stated, “22 years since winning American Idol. And I’m back on TV. Who would have thought?” Further, she also mentioned why this significant milestone slipped out of her mind. In the clip, she stated, “That’s so exciting. Andy, I forgot! I didn’t even realise what it was; I’m worried about my kid’s first day of school, which is tomorrow.”
Even her fans celebrated the day and showered the singer with love and praise. One of them stated, “The first and only!” while another one recalled, “I remember that day perfectly. Hail to the Queen.” Another fan lauded her saying, “Congrats Kelly Clarkson On 22 years ago! Forever thankful You Became the world’s greatest Singer! I Voted for You! Kelly Clarkson previously reminisced on her American Idol win in 2022 as she celebrated its 20th anniversary. She wrote a long note on Instagram stating how this victory “forever changed” the course of her life. She wrote, “That moment was the door that opened up so much access, opportunity, and creative partnerships that I will be grateful for all of my days. The family and friendships I have created over these 20 years in music and TV are priceless to me.” She also noted how the show was a major reason behind her success.
