23-Year-Old Fitness Influencer Dies After Falling Into Ravine While Filming Video

Giorgi Tzane Janelidze, a fitness influencer, passed away after falling into a deep ravine in the hilly village of Roghudi Vecchio in Italy. According to Greek media outlet Ethnos, the incident took place on Wednesday when Janelidze was recording a video on a balcony that had no railings. The 23-year-old lost his balance and fell into the ravine. Janelidze, who was born in Georgia but lived in Greece. She visited Roghudi Vecchio, an ancient mountain village that has been abandoned since the 1970s after it was destroyed in severe floods. The hilltop village has many abandoned and decaying buildings.

Greek media reported that even as the firefighters were rushed to the spot, they failed to save him. The local authorities had to use helicopters to retrieve Janelidze’s body from the deep ravine. His body was later transported to the coastal town of Saline Joniche. Janelidze’s friend Chris Kogias who accompanied him on the trip, told Ethnos news, “Tzane is no longer with us. He left us yesterday afternoon during the trip we made to Italy. Please pray with us for his soul to rest in peace.” Janelidze had more than one lakh Instagram followers. His fans have been pouring condolence messages on his Instagram posts.

Janelidze’s girlfriend, Elena Margariti, expressed the loss at her partner’s death on an Instagram story. According to the New York Post, Margariti wrote, “The most beautiful person inside and out, the biggest adventure I’ve ever had with someone.” She continued, “Many dreams, a home together, through our difficulties, through our joys, and we made it, us against all odds. So unfairly, so early. I love you so much. We will meet again. My Tzitsi.”

Last year, Remi Enigma, a stuntman and photographer, died after he fell from the 68th floor of a Hong Kong building while trying to climb it. Remi was known for scaling tall buildings with minimum safety gear. His body was found near Hong Kong’s Tregunter Tower complex. According to the South China Morning Post, no suicide note was recovered from the scene which indicated that Remi died after he lost his footing and fell. The famous Frenchman had earlier climbed various high-rise buildings around the world. He had over 47,000 Instagram followers. He was 30 years old.

Last year on May 16 a Chinese influencer who went by “Sanqiange” on Douyin died after he took part in an extreme drinking challenge and live-streamed it. The 34-year-old drank more than four bottles of baijiu very strong Chinese liquor) without pausing. He was found dead hours after he live-streamed the drinking challenge. According to the South China Morning Post, more than 100 people watched Sanqiange’s livestream but did not report any concerns.
