With the Summer Olympics underway in Paris, many athletes have offered glimpses of their lifestyle inside the Village. Joining the league, Australian tennis star Daria Saville has treated her social media followers with a tour of her new home in the French capital. Saville dropped a video on Instagram, showing every corner of the Olympic Village apartment. Saville, a key member of the Aussie tennis team, paired up with Ellen Perez to compete in women’s doubles. The duo, however, failed to beat the USA’s Coco Gauf and Jessica Pegula in the first round and crashed out of the competition.

Despite her dismal outing at Rolland Garros, Daria Saville gained much popularity after her video featuring the behind-the-scenes tour of the Olympic Village apartment went viral. Apart from her doubles partner Ellen Perez, Saville shared the apartment with two other Australian players– Ajla Tomljanovic and Olivia Gadecki.

The Paris Olympics committee provided four women with a 2BHK apartment which consists of a living space and a shared washroom. The video opened with Daria Saville entering the living room where she found a sofa set, a tea table and a mirror. In the video, the 30-year-old captured the common bathroom, connected to the living hall.

Saville then took her followers to the bedrooms with an attached balcony. Each of those rooms had two single beds made of cardboard. As per Tennis.com, the organising committee of the Paris Olympics decided to use recycled materials to design the beds in the interest of sustainability. Saville further shed light on the mattresses which seemed to be reversible.

The post has received much traction from Instagram users, garnering over 26 lakh views on Instagram. One of the viewers reckons the organisers could give “two bathrooms” for four athletes. Another user felt “the lounge area was not enough for four people.”

Daria Saville later made a video with Ellen Perez as the duo tested the durability of the cardboard beds by performing various activities on them. “Testing out the cardboard beds at the Olympic Village,” Saville wrote in the caption.

The Aussie tennis players were seen doing squad jumps on the sustainable bed. They also jumped on it and did some volley practice to assess the strength. The video accumulated more than 6 lakh views on Instagram.
