The original bride did not like the lehenga sent by her in-laws. So, she refused to marry.

Indian weddings are no less festivals, as the celebrations commence at least 15 days before the official day. Comprising of various customs, the families of the couple leave no stone unturned to make the days some of the best of their lives. But what will happen if a blunder occurs on the D-day? An incident occurred at a wedding in Bihar, which led the baraat to a police station.

As per the reports, the groom and the baraatis, residents of Gaighat, Bihar, had reached Dhoom Nagar, Baruraj, with a lot of joy and hopes for the big day. The procession was then given a pomp welcome by the family of the bride, along with a delectable breakfast. However, during the jayamala ceremony, the groom outright refused to marry the bride.

The reports state further that right before the jayamala, the groom saw the bride’s face and refused to go ahead with the wedding. According to him, they had changed the bride; he saw a different girl than the one he was promised to marry. Throughout this, the girl’s family stayed calm. Later it was revealed, that the groom was not in the wrong. Reportedly, they had swapped the original bride with her younger sister.

The crux of the matter lay with the original bride, who did not like the lehenga sent by her in-laws. So, she refused to marry, even though her parents and relatives failed to convince her. By then, the baraat had reached the venue and the first bride was not budging. Then her family convinced the younger sister and brought her in front of the baraat as the bride.

The groom then dialled the police and after they reached the venue, they did their best to calm the situation, but nothing worked. They were forced to take everyone to the police station. So, when the SHO, Sanjeev Kumar Dubey, somehow convinced everyone including the original bride, the wedding took place at the police station. It was carried out at the Santoshi Mata temple, which was located within the station’s premises.
