'Locho' With Pav? Surat's Famous Dish Comes With a Combo No One Wants to Try
'Locho with Pav' is the new bizarre food combo leaving Suratis in utter disgust. Watch how it's made.

Ever heard about ‘locho’? It’s one of those hidden gems in Gujarati cuisine, particularly famous in Surat. Crafted from gram flour, this dish gets its name from its playful consistency and unique dumpling-like shape, setting it apart from the regular cut pieces you’d expect. Suratis swear by it for breakfast, relishing its tempting combination with chutney and masala. However, a recent twist has left them exclaiming ‘Moye Moye’ in disgust—why? Because someone decided to throw Pav into the mix!

A tantalizing video shared on Instagram showcased the unconventional use of Pav in crafting Locho. It all started with a drizzle of Mayonnaise on one side of the Pav and a generous spread of chutney on the other. Then came the unexpected move—swapping out the classic Vada for a spoonful of Locho, crowned with some more sauce, cheese and sev.

Predictably, the comment section lit up with people expressing their disdain. One user hilariously lamented, “Paav : maa meri shaktiyo ka galat istemal kar rahe he,” while another quipped, “Authentic locho is in depression now.” The third one threw in a playful twist, “Locha sathe locho thai gyo.”

Before the ‘locho with Pav’ controversy, a Pune food stall boldly ventured into the realm of culinary oddities with their creation, proudly dubbed ‘Misal Pizza.’ Imagine everything from the flavourful ‘misal’ universe artfully arranged on pizza bread, then embellished with grated cheese and sauces. This quirky culinary concoction only added fuel to the trust issues of foodies already fatigued by the ongoing trend of unexpected flavour fusions.

In a viral video, the process unfolded with the vendor expertly spreading sauce on the pizza bread, layering it with namkeen, matki, chopped onions, and coriander – essentially, the full ‘misal’ package. The climax? Mozzarella cheese and red paprika, culminating in a tantalising bake in the oven. Talk about pushing the boundaries of taste!
