Rizwan Siddiquee, an advocate from Mumbai, has ignited a discussion on social media with his LinkedIn post seeking law interns. While initially praised for offering a Rs 45,000 stipend, a hidden clause revealed that it was for three months, sparking debate.
Siddiquee’s post, which garnered traction after an X user commended him for the stipend, outlined terms for a six-month internship involving “complex research and drafting work."
However, the finer details disclosed a monthly pay starting at Rs 10,000, potentially rising to Rs 15,000 over three months based on performance.
The interns would be paid this total sum at the end of three months, equating to Rs 30,000 or Rs 45,000, depending on their pay grade. “The said minimum amount of Rs 30,000/- or Rs. 45,000/- (as the case may be) will be paid at the end of the 3rd month," the post read.
Thereafter, the interns’ stipends will be increased by 50% over the next three months, taking them from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per month (or Rs 15,000 to Rs 22,500 per month).

The post on LinkedIn has received over 800 reactions and dozens of comments. Several users applauded the advocate’s candour in exposing pay, as well as his lengthy post.
A user wrote, “For the first time, I’m seeing such an elaborate post on the internship! This way interns will get more motivated and will learn and work with full zeal!".
Another said, “Rizwan, this is a very transparent and honest way to engage with interns and get the best out of them. I appreciate the approach and opportunity you have provided for upcoming law graduates and I wish you the very best!".
The advocate was, however, pushed by several to reveal that the Rs 45,000 stipend would be given for three months of work.
Others, despite the debate, regarded the offered stipend as reasonable for an online internship.
