Over 1500 Skeletons Discovered At Construction Site in Germany’s Nuremberg
It is believed that this place once used to be the largest ever cemetery in Europe.

There are many such excavation sites all around the world. Excavation is the process of moving earth, rock, or other materials using tools, equipment, or explosives. It includes earthwork, trenching, wall shafts, tunnelling, and underground. These are mainly dug to find artefacts or fossils, which are used to understand history and its significance. Sometimes, researchers find things that come as a complete shock to them. A similar situation has happened in Nuremberg, Germany, where a group of labourers were shocked to see what they found at the digging site, while constructing a house. According to reports, the labourers were shocked to see that there were a large number of human skeletons in the area. This turned out to be a huge discovery for archaeologists in Nuremberg. It is believed that this place once used to be the largest ever cemetery in Europe.

So far, not just one or two, but nearly a thousand skeletons have been found in Nuremberg. Another strange thing was that these skeletons were found in the city centre of Nuremberg, which is highly populated.

Archaeologists have revealed that this number could be more than 1500. The archaeologists are currently conducting a necessary investigation into the entire matter. It is expected that after the complete investigation, many more secrets regarding this area will be revealed to the public. Some initial reports have suggested that these skeletons may date back to the first half of the 17th century.

During the investigations, a green colour has been found in the bones of some skeletons. Some of the experts have come to the conclusion that the waste from the nearby copper mill was thrown here. Nuremberg Department of Heritage Conservation archaeologist Melanie Langbein has revealed that all human skeletons found in the area and in the future will be ensured to be preserved. As per reports, Nuremberg is believed to be the largest cemetery of plague victims ever excavated in Europe. The Bubonic Plague, like the Black Death and the Justinian Plague, was a very infamous epidemic that is frequently mentioned in history. This local epidemic persisted in Nuremberg for many years after the Black Death and is said to have affected the lives of millions of people.
