The Indian rupee fell to its lowest point on record on Monday, closing at 83.8450, down 0.1% from the last session. Fears of slowing economic development in the US were stoked by disappointing jobs statistics released by the US government, which caused investors to sell heavily in the domestic stock market. With losses of over 2.7% apiece, the major stock indexes for India, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, saw their biggest single-day decline in more than two months.

A user shared a Mahabharat dialogue as a meme which read, “Aaj mere dukh, meri nirasha ki koi seema nahi” (Today, my sorrow and disappointment know no bounds). The caption read, “Investors looking at portfolio falling from today morning..”
